Former local government party chairmen across Kwara South have pledged their support for the re-election bid of PDP Kwara South senatorial candidate, Dr Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim.

The ex-party chairmen, who made the pledge at a meeting with the Senator on Saturday, described him as a responsible, responsive, tested and trusted politician, adding that his achievements are unprecedented in the history of Kwara South.

They acknowledged the various community development projects and programmes initiated by Senator Rafiu and his performance at the National Assembly.

They maintained that the result of the by-election in Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Isin/Irepodun Federal Constituency does not pose any threat to the re-election of Senator Rafiu, noting that outcome did not reflect the wishes of the people as the exercise was manipulated by the APC in connivance with security agencies.

The former party chairmen also reiterated their unalloyed support and loyalty to the Saraki political family, but however called for a stronger synergy between elders and youths within the structure as they prepare for the general elections.

Responding, Senator Rafiu thanked the ex-party chairmen for their support and also solicited their regular prayers and advice.

He restated his commitment to the development of his people and constituency, stressing that the welfare of his constituents remains paramount to him.

The senator rallied support for the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Razak Atunwa and all candidates of the PDP for the forthcoming elections.

He encouraged Kwarans and indeed Nigerians to keep their hopes alive and have faith that the incoming administration of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar would be beneficial to all.
