Mrs Stella Ajige, the Managing Director, SKDC Global Links Ltd and Chief Coordinator of Nasarawa Entrepreneur Summit (NES) has said that no fewer than 1000 entrepreneurs were billed to participate in the second edition of NES in the state.
Ajige told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lafia that summit would hold between between July 18 and July 19.
She said that most of those who had indicated interest to participate at the summit were business owners.
According to her, the summit is informed by the need to embrace the culture of entrepreneurship for the purpose of creating jobs instead of over- reliance on government jobs.
She said that the summit would among other things, feature series of inspirational talk-shows, lectures on connectivity between youths, entrepreneurs and role models as well as mentorship.
Ajige said the summit would bring to the fore the need for entrepreneurs and business owners to embrace new technologies so as to build novel ideas that would add value to their immediate environment and the economy at large.
“Awareness on these fourth industrial revolutions where science and technology breakthrough are disrupting industries, blurring geographic boundaries and challenging regulatory frameworks is necessary.
“It is on this basis that we are tagging our summit for the year 2019 as `Entrepreneurship and the Economy, Think, Build, Evolve.’
“There is an urgent need to close up this huge gap and put our country on the map, starting with Nasarawa State, as we transit into a technology driven economy,’’ she said.
Ajige, while thanking Nasarawa State Government and the retinue of other partners for the year 2018 edition, said 2019 edition was equally open for partnership.
Joy Nuzubechi-Ekwo,Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Natenzzy Cakes and Pastries Lafia, also said NES was organised to change the mindset of unemployed youths from waiting for white-collar jobs.
On his part, Desmond Envoh, CEO, Applause Global Concert, Lafia said the summit was aimed at discussing the challenges facing entrepreneurs and business owners in Nasarawa State.
He said the summit would enlighten participants on how to create their own support systems to address contemporary challenges.
