KWSG warns against dumping refuse inside drainage

The Kwara State government has warned that it would henceforth deal decisively with would be residents and shop owners found to be dumping refuse in drainages.
The government also urged the people to desist from patronizing unregistered waste managers as those caught would be made to face full wrath of the law.
The state Head of Service, Mrs Susan Modupe Oluwole, gave the warning when she led top government officials on visits to selected areas in Ilorin to ascertain level of compliance on environmental sanitation within the Ilorin metropolis.
The visits were parts of the efforts of the state to reintroduce sanitary inspection in the state.
About one hundred and twenty sanitary inspectors have been deployed to move round some areas in the state capital to ensure that residents comply with the sanitation law
Also speaking with journalists, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Alhaji Amosa Isiaka Al-Amin,said the state government is committed to making the state a disease free state.
Alhaji Al-Amin, disclosed that the state government would re-introduce sanitary inspection where scientific officers and sanitary officers would be clustered into various part of the metropolis to enforce cleanliness in the state.
The Permanent Secretary however disclosed that new sophisticated roro bins would be distributed across the metropolis to curb against littering of the roads, drainages and environment with refuses.
