Kwara to set aside N1bn for soft loans

The Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq says his government is ready to set aside one billion naira as seed money to support small and medium businesses in the state.

Governor AbdulRazaq disclosed this today in Ilorin during a breakfast meeting with newsmen to mark his one days in office.

According to him, the money will be made available to support traders with initial ten thousand each and would be increased upon repayment of the first tranche to boost their capacity.

He said the scheme would help traders and entrepreneurs to kick start the state economy, create more employment opportunities and help the economy.

Governor AbdulRazaq who said his administration is desirous of lifting Kwarans above poverty line disclosed that a bill on Social Investment Programmes had been forwarded to the State House of Assembly.

The Governor noted that he had interacted with the World Bank and ready to support the state’s Social Investment Programmes with funding and capacity building.
