NDLEA apprehends 19 drug users, 7 notorious drug dealers in Kwara

The Kwara State Command of the National Drugs Law and Enforcement Agency has arrested twenty six people for indulging in the use and sales of drugs in the state .
This feat was achieved within two months, from August to September.
The State Commander of the Agency, Mr. Umaru Ambrose, who disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists at the Command’s headquarters in Ilorin, the State Capital, said seven of those arrested were drugs baron.
Those apprehended, according to him, include a notorious and high profile Cannabis dealer, Chukwuemeka Odeh-Okewu Johnson known as Chuks, who has been declared wanted in two thousand and seventeen when the Command located his drug warehouse and recovered three hundred and ninety six bags of cannabis weighing four thousand, three hundred and fifty six kilograms.
The Commander noted that based on intelligence reports, the officers of the command also apprehended some culprits and dislodged their joints in the state.
The joints according to him, are Iloffa road, GRA, Ajikobi Area, Adewole Estate, Tanks area, Maraba motor park, Okolowo, Malete and Omupo where many grams of cannabis sativa were recovered during the raid and dis-lodgement.
Mr. Ambrose explained that a United Nations Research Report on drugs and crime put Kwara at thirteen point zero percent drug use prevalence in North central, lamenting the rate at which drugs are being abused in the state.
While saying that the command had commenced a programme tagged “Operation Keep Kwara Drug Free” and another programme tagged ” Know your Child’s Drug Status ” aimed at identifying people who use Drugs, the Commander of the Agency called on the parents, guardians, Schools, companies and the public to key into the window opportunity to sanitize the state of contraband drugs.
