Legislative debate ends today at the Kwara State House of Assembly on the State signage and Advertising Agency Bill, now before the lawmakers for passage.
Moving the motion for the debate, the Majority Leader, Alhaji Ishola Balogun Fulani said the proposed law was in line with part two, items one, three and four, under the concurrent list in the constitution.
Alhaji Balogun-Fulani described the Bill as timely towards boosting the internally Generated Revenue of the State.
Also speaking, a member, representing Ilorin-Central, Engineer Sulaiman Warah noted that the proposed law was similar to what was on ground in other States of the Federation, to provide fair and consistent framework for the Management of an outdoor advertisements.
Engineer Warah expressed the belief that the passage of the law would also enhance the status of the environment through the practice of organized advertising.
The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Sports and Youths Development, Prince Yemi Afolayan lauded the initiative as a way of providing corporate outlook for the State.
In a remark, the Speaker, Alhaji Babatunde Mohammed referred the Bill to the House Joint Committees on Environment and Tourism as well as Information, Sports and Youths Development, for further legislative procedure.
The proposed law is to provide for the regulation of outdoor structures for the display of signage, Hoarding and Advertisement in the State.
