Public Schools in Kwara State today re-opened for normal academic activities after an industrial strike by members of the Nigeria Union of teachers.
Our Correspondent who went round reports that all schools in Ilorin metropolis were opened.
Speaking with the Executive Secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed who also visited some schools, he expressed satisfaction over the compliance and commended the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) for calling off the strike.
According to the Secretary, the NUT leadership had demonstrated that it was responsive and responsible and had the love of the children at heart.
Answering questions from newsmen on the school environment, Alhaji Mohammed promised that the Board would soon embark on massive renovation of classrooms and provision of furniture to make learning conducive for pupils and also improve on the welfare of teachers.
Schools visited include CAC Junior Secondary school, Yidi road Ilorin West, Community LGEA School Ganmo, in Ifelodun Local Government and Bishop Smith LGEA in Ilorin East.
