Governor Ikedi Ohakim of Imo State says the proposed State wonder land Lake Resort and conference centre at Oguta will cost his Administration sixty Billion Naira to construct.
Governor Ohakim who disclosed this during his maiden visit to the State House of Assembly, said steps were already being taken to raise Thirty Billion Naira bond from the Capital market to partly finance the construction of the project.
When completed, the governor said the project will create jobs for the people and also improve the economy tremendously.
He said, the centre will have world class facilities like an international golf course, a five-star hotel, leisure parks, standard football pitch, shopping complexes, casinos and cinemas.
According to him, the tourism centre is expected to generate more than one thousand, five hundred jobs, while a Project Director had been appointed to work hand-in-hand with foreign consultants already engaged by the government.
He said that plans were also on to develop the Abadaba Lake, Okigule hills, Monkey Colony at Laywa, Olwuata and Nworie River.
Governor Ohakim therefore solicited the support and co-operation of the State lawmakers for the project, adding that the issues of security of would be investors and tourists was already being addressed by the Security Committee headed by retired Colonel Herbert Eze.
