The Senior Special Assistant to the President on NEPAD, Doctor Tunji Olagunju, has called on the National Assembly to put in place legislation for speedy execution of NEPAD's Agenda.
The call was made by Doctor Olagunju when the Senate Committee on Integration and NEPAD paid him a working visit as part of its oversight functions.
Doctor Olagunju said the Act would cover provisions such as the implementation of the National Pogramme of Action as well as the recruitment and development of skilled professionals to undertake its task.
Also included were monitoring and evaluation of global standards in the private and public sectors as contained in the Agenda.
The Chairman of the Committee, Senator George Akume, said the lawmakers were waiting for the presentation of draft legislation from NEPAD.
Senator Akume said as soon as this was received, the National Assembly would push for an early debate and passage into law.
