Envoy urges US to respect Nigeria's position on terrorism

Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Professor Joy Ogwu, has called the United States Government to respect Nigeria's position on terrorism.

Professor Ogwu said this while responding to the designating of Nigeria as one of the countries of interest, on the latest terrorism intelligence.

According to him, the country cannot be adjudged a terrorist one because of the misdeed of one man, adding that the person in question did not receive his training in Nigeria, nor did he grow up in the country.

Professor Ogwu said the country’s media and by extension, the government had a lot of work to do to counter the unfortunate, but misleading negative concept about the country.

She explained that Nigeria was still a force to reckon with in the comity of nations and relevant in fostering of international peace and security.
