The Kwara State Governor, Doctor Bukola Saraki has called on all stakeholders in education sector to redouble their efforts in championing and promoting qualitative education in the state.
Governor Saraki made the call in Ilorin at the formal closing of this year’s National Qur’an Recitation Competition.
Represented by the State Head of Service, Alhaji Mohammed Dabarako, Governor Saraki admitted that the religious and moral education of youth was central to overall development of the society.
The governor who commended the Initiator of the competition, the Usman Dan Fodiyo University Sokoto for its foresight in organizing the competition at National level enjoined parents and guardians to be proactive in the task of bringing their children and ward up property.
Also speaking, the state Chairman, National Qur’an Recitation Competition Committee, Alhaji A. S Ayinla thanked Chairman of local Government in the state for their moral and final support.
The Committee he said had executed its plans towards mobilizing forces from the grassroots for the success of the programme.
At the end of the competition, Asa Local Government came first, Ilorin South came second while Ilorin East look the third position.
The winner of the highest category of the competition featuring memorization of complete Holy Qur’an is Abduul-Lateef Sulyman from Offa Local Government.
Abduul-Lateef was later turbaned by the State Head of service who represented the state Governor at the occasion.
