Organisational
Structure Of KSBC
Though Ministry of Information and Home Affairs is the
Superintending Ministry of the Corporation, its function
is to give the Corporation directions of a general character
or relating generally to particular matters (but not
to any individual or case) with regard to the exercise
by Corporation of its functions under the Edict, and
it shall be the duty of the Corporation to comply with
such directions.
It should, however, be noted that
the policy thrust of the station rests with the Board
of Directors, the apex authority. The Board is to advise
the Corporation (Management) on such matters arising
under, on in execution of its functions under the provisions
of the Edict and as provided for in existing circulars.
It is also to approve such financial obligations or
functions beyond the power of the Management.
The General Manager who by the Edict
of the Corporation is a member of the Board heads the
Management. He is the Chief Executive Officer of the
Corporation, and responsible for the execution of the
policy of the Corporation and its day-day business.
He is by the provisions of the Edict, and service convention
expected to be supported by a Corporation Secretary
who shall be his Chief Adviser, and in charge of general
administration, records and correspondence of the Corporation.
He is also offer general advice to the Board and Management
on statutory requirements and policy decisions of the
Board; among others. Both are appointed by the Executive
Governor, or as may be delegated in the case of the
Corporation Secretary.
Generally, the Corporation is divided
into six (6) Directorates (Departments) of equal status.
This is made up of Administration which is the service
department that looks after and keeps custody of records
all Staff and is in-charge of correspondence. In specific
functions include implementation of policy decisions
and interpretation of Staff Regulations and Government
Circulars, and in-charge of general staff matters. The
Administration Department which acts as the service
department to the five other departments and co-ordinates
their administrative through activities through the
Corporation Secretary, is headed by a Director of Administration.
It organizes, co-ordinates, plans and direct Staff/personnel
and resources for the accomplishment of the objectives
of the Corporation. The other five (5) are professional
departments whose name are suggestive of their functions,
viz; Engineering, News and Current Affairs, Programme,
Finance and Marketing.
For the purpose of achieving its
objectives, the Corporation is vertically and horizontally
structured to ensure overall management efficiency and
effectiveness, high degree of specialization, job satisfaction,
optimum span of control and clear lines of authority
and responsibility. The overall administrative machinery
of the Corporation is headed by the General Manager
who is the Chief Executive and is responsible for the
effective implementation of the statutory responsibilities
Corporation, government policies, as they concern the
Corporation, and the decisions of the Board and management.
Each of the departments is further
divide into Divisions, Branches, and Units. The overall
objective of these divisions and sub-divisions is to
ensure delegation of power and optimum efficiency.
