The Governor of Kwara State, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed has emphasized the importance of marriage for the sustenance of society.
He spoke in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital at the marriage of Nimotallai Ideraoluwa and Abdullahi Rayhan Ola who are children of late Alhaji Isiak Kola Badmus of Ibadan and late Alhaji Saka Olumoh of Ilorin in Kwara state.
Represented by the state commissioner for Information and Communications, Alhaji Ishak Mohammed Sabi, Dr. Ahmed identified the marriage institution as the bedrock of the societal growth and stability.
The Governor observed that it was the failure of that important segment of the society that is largely responsible for the instability being experienced in the society today and vices including immorality, cultism, militancy, kidnappings, drug addiction and other such vices bedeviling the society.
He therefore advised couples to imbibe the spirit of tolerance, love, give and take and above all the fear of God in strengthening the marriage institution.
Gov Ahmed congratulated the couple’s parents for bringing them up that far, saying the remaining journey in their lives began on the day they are formally joined together as husband and wife.
