National Convention: Kwara PDP urges delegates to vote Saraki

The Kwara State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to delegates to the party’s National Convention to vote Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki as the PDP presidential candidate for the 2019 general elections.

The PDP National Convention holds this weekend in Portharcourt, the Rivers State capital.

In a statement on Friday by its State Publicity Secretary, Mr Tunde Ashaolu, the party said the former Kwara State governor possesses the abilty and capacity to defeat the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in 2019.

“We urge all the delegates from the 36 states of the federation to vote Saraki as the party flag bearer in the February 2019 presidential election. We assure you he will not let you down,” the statement reads.

The statement noted that Saraki has the requisite executive and legislative experiences to lead Nigeria to greater heights, and assured that the Senate President would deliver purposeful and focused leadership and serve the interests of Nigerians if elected the country’s President.

It therefore, called on all Nigerians to support the ‘Grow Nigeria’ project of Saraki in the interest of stability, unity and development of the country.

The party expressed optimism that the PDP will reclaim the presidency from the APC in 2019, saying that “the PDP is ready to change the change that brought untold hardship and poverty on Nigerians.”

The Kwara PDP called on the National Convention Planning Committee chaired by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to conduct a free, fair and transparent primary election.

It wished all the delegates and party faithful safe journey to Rivers State and back to their respective destinations.
