KWARMA commences repair of Ohan Bridge today

The Kwara State Roads Maintenance Agency (KWARMA) is to commence the repair of Ohan Bridge in Asa Local Government today Friday 19th 2018.

In a statement signed by KWARMA General Manager, Engr Usman Baba Jibril and Assistance General Manager/Secretary, Mr Tunde Amos, said the repair work would be carried out between today and tomorrow, Saturday 20th October, 2018.

The move, according to the statement, was borne out of the state government deaired objective to relief the motorists plying Okoolowo-Alapa-Igbeti road.

KWARMA disclosed that the road would be closed temporarily during the project repair and reopen on Sunday 21st October, 2018.

The agency solicited for the cooperation of motorists and commuters during the repair. “Any inconveniences this might bring is hereby regretted”.

Ohan Bridge had recently collapsed thereby making the road impassable for motorists plying Okoolowo-Alapa-Igbeti road.

Motorists had on several occasions appealed to the Federal and state governments to repair the collapsed bridge to address economic hardship which its impassable had posed to them.

They stressed the need for urgent repair of the bridge in view of its importance for transportation of food items and passengers from Oyo state and neighbouring Republic of Benin.

Economic and social activities of residents of Kwara and Oyo states had been grounded following the collapse of the bridge linking the two states.
