Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation is the corporate name of the station and Radio Kwara, Ilorin, remains the Station’s Identity. Radio Kwara, Ilorin, is one of the public-owned broadcast media in the country.

The station broadcasts on Medium Wave Meter Band, popularly known as Amplified Modulation, (AM) and Frequency Modulation, (FM) Meter Band.

Specifically, Radio Kwara is on Six-One-Two Kilohertz, Four-Nine-Zero meters Medium Wave Band.
It also echoes to the public on Ninety-nine- Dot-Zero Midland FM station.
The Broadcasting House and Corporate Headquarters of the station is located at Number Two, Police Road, GRA, Ilorin while its Midland FM station is within the premises of the Kwara State Television Service along the Old Jebba road, Apata-Yakuba area, Ilorin.


Interestingly, the broadcast signal on the AM meter band of the  station, directly travels to more than Twenty-seven states of the Federation, apart from filtering into some selected neighbouring and West-African countries, including parts of Europe.

In the same vein, the Radio Kwara Midland- FM station covers more than twenty-three states and remains the most heard broadcast station in the entire North-Central region of the country.


Radio Kwara, Ilorin operates within the confines of the operational guidelines and ethical regulations as entrenched by relevant monitoring and supervising agencies.

The station hinges its services on protecting and projecting indigenous values. It serves as a link between the government and the governed through effective tracking of the performances of government towards addressing the aspirations of the masses.

Similarly, the station performs other relevant social responsibility services, like promoting good governance and equitable distribution of dividends of democracy. Above all, Radio Kwara encourages inter-cultural, inter-religious and exchange of useful ideas to accelerate socio – economic lives of the people.

There exists an established Edict guiding the administration and operation of Radio Kwara, Ilorin.
Radio Kwara has a Board of Directors and Management Team with the Chairman, heading the Board and the General Manager, leading the Management with the Corporation Secretary, coordinating the administrative affairs.

There are four operational and two supporting department in Radio Kwara, Ilorin.

Programmes Department ensures quality content towards fulfilling the statutory duties of the station.

News and Current Affairs Department is responsible for information management, news production and reporting to inform and educate the public.

Engineering Department provides uninterrupted technical support services to guaranty steady broadcast and ensures regular maintenance of all operational facilities including the ICT Unit.

Marketing Department provides a formidable, robust and result-oriented media campaigns on various products and services.

The Marketing Department is into advertising, branding and promotional activities for any commercial items to boost acceptance and patronage in the market.

Other supportive departments include Administration for staff welfare and general services, Finance department ensures prudent management of available resources while the Audit moderates financial regulations, based on the principles of transparency and accountability.

Indeed, Radio Kwara is strategically operating in the heart of the North-Central zone of the country.
